Cemetery Clean Up
Hi this is Sharonann & David and we both started a voluntary course callled ‘P.I.P’ (Pump It Project) in mid January. While on this course we have taken part in a variety of projects, but the project we have enjoyed the most and feel has been the most rewarding is a Cemetery Clean Up at Houghton Cemetery. On our first visit to the Cemetery, We decided as a group what needed to be done. The Cemetery was full of overgrown trees and litter, some gravestones were buried under overgrown weeds, pathways were not clearly defined and parts of the Cemetery were unaccessible.
With help from other voluntary organisations we attended to the problems by cleaning up litter, chopping down trees and cutting down weeds/grass. We used logs from the chopped down trees to define the main pathway and returned the remainer into chips for the pathway.
We thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this voluntary project.
