The exhibition was enjoyed by family and friends of the young people, as well as Home Group Representatives and young people and their workers from other North East Housing Providers. The group used Keyfund to purchase Hoodies for the event so that visiters knew who had created the works. We’re so glad that Kathryn from Keyfund could join us and share in all their hard work.

This video was put together by the groups and showcased in a seperate room to the art exhibition. It was well received!

I think the improvements that could be made in the area, could be more youth clubs and dance classes, etc. for young people, and more coffee clubs/social events for the elderly.

In 10 years time, I would hopefully like to be working and driving my own car, and have moved into my own house.   I think living in my own home would give me more freedom.    I would like a better life for my child and give him the childhood that I never had.

I think children and young people would benefit from classes to help them learn how to live more independently, to learn how to live off the income they receive, and to learn the rules that come with tenancies.

I think there could be some improvements, the facilities on Treborth Park for example, younger children aren’t always able to play on the things there.

Some of the pavement areas need to be more level,  so that the elderly don’t trip. 

Facilites for young adults,  (20′s-30′), there could be get-togethers arranged!

In 10 years time, I would like to have moved out of my flat, and into a house with a garden, and would hopefully be buying the house.  I would like to have a full-time job that covers all my outgoings, and possibly have my own family.

I already live in my own rented flat, the good things about this is the friends I have, the worst things could be not affording all the bills, if I was buying my own home, it could be affording to do the repairs and maintenance myself !

The sorts of bills I have living in my own property are Rent, Council Tax, Gas, Electricity (these are the most important ones) also, there are extra ones, like TV Licence, Cleaning Stuff, Food, Topping up my mobile !

I think the most important training/lessons children and young people could have in preparing them for adulthood, would be, budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and how to run a home !

I like living in Ellesmere Port, because it has easy access to Cheshire Oaks, and Liverpool City Centre.

I think the area could be improved by providing more activities for teenagers.

In 10 years time, I would like to be in a steady job, and own my own home.  I think the best thing about living in my own home would be the independence, the worst thing would be doing my own cooking and cleaning.

The sorts of bills I would have living in my own home would be, Mortgage/Rent, electricity, gas, water, council tax, Internet, TV Licence, the most important of these would be Mortgage/Rent, Gas, Water, Electricity.

I think children and young people would benefit from learning how to manage their money, learning how to write CV’s and searching for jobs.

I am 13 years old, and attend Ellesmere Port Catholic High.

I like living in Ellesmere Port, because it is close to Chester, Liverpool and Manchester, it could be improved with more places for teenagers to go to, and more or better concert venues.

In 10 years time, I would like to have a good career, and maybe go travelling!   I think I will probably still be living at home with my parents.

If I were to be living in my own home, I think the worst things would be doing my own chores, and the best thing would be doing what I want to do !!

I think the sorts of bills I would need to pay would be rent/mortgage, gas, electricity, water, council tax, the most important things would be rent/mortage and utility bills !

I think children and young people would benefit from having more chance to undertake work experience, and to learn about money/finance in school.

I like living in Blacon, because it is close to facilities, such as shops, schools, etc., most people are friendly in the community, and it has a good bus service into town.

I think Blacon has improved a lot over the last few years,  but could continue to improve by providing more things for teenagers to do, as most parks are too young for them.

In 10 years time, I would like to have moved out of my parents home, have a stable job/career, possibly be married with children, and be driving my own car !  I think I would be either renting, or buying my own home.

The best things about living in my own home, would be my own space, freedom of choice, and if I rented from a Housing Association, being able to have my repairs/maintenance done.   The worst things would be having to pay bills, having to cook and clean for myself, and if I owned my own home, having to pay for repairs and maintenance  ! 

The most important bills I would have to pay out, would be rent, gas, electric, water, council tax, tv licence,  and food.

I think children and young people would benefit from training, such as life skills in general,  one of these being that you should work hard and pay your own bills, and not rely on benefits and parents to help out !

They should also learn that violence and arguments are wrong attitudes and don’t get you anywhere in life. 

Another skill could be “confidence building”

I think the questionnaire I completed would be useful to children, because putting the answers to the questions on paper, helps you see how hard life can be as an adult !
