Hi I’m Jamal, 16, i’m currently on a 20 week voluntary course called the Pump it Project at Sans Street Youth Centre.
Before this course I wasnt 100% sure what my future career was going to be, but I sat down with one of the Youth Workers and talked about what I’m interested in. My passion is music and I said I’d be interested in working at concerts and travelling the world working at gigs and music festivals.
I’ve done some voluntary work at The Bunker- this is a recording studio in Sunderland and they have shown me how to set up a PA system by myself. I’m learning how to manage the sound as people are performing.
Next Steps
I am looking into colleges all over the country that run courses in Light and Sound Engineering, and also search and apply for any work experience, internships or one off gigs that will get me experience in the industry.
